Web site Re-design Case Study: Volunteer Bolivia
It was great working with the staff of Volunteer Bolivia on their web site re-design! Read on to find out just how we did it.
A Search Engine Friendly Website
The first step in this web site redesign was removing the site Frames. Frames make it difficult for search engines to index a website.
Keyword rich text on web pages is important when it comes to getting a good rank with the search engines. VB's old Splash page left no room for text, so we made sure to create a home page with plenty of space for keyword rich content.
Replacing their image links with plain text links makes the site easier to update and create new pages, as well as adding more keyword text.
A Professional & Beautiful New Look
VB's previous web site colors tended towards being rather garish. We wanted the site to showcase their extremely colorful Bolivian culture, while at the same time representing them as the very professional and established organization they are.
Something else that was missing in VB's previous design were images of the Bolivian people. We integrated some of their own photo's within the main header graphic to great effect.
We retained their wonderful string art logo and updated it with a different background. Using a bolder and more conservative font also creates a nice contrast with the artwork.
It was important to give this web site a rich and colorful look, while at the same time making it very professional looking and easy to navigate.
